A few thoughts on Objects in Cabinet 3D

Frage

Hi, extra group team.

I would like to show some personal thoughts on the Objects tool.

It is a nice tool, I am really like to use it. It could make the design work faster and add more attractions and beauty on this tool if it has a way to change cabinet material / construction in Interiorcad> Edit Construction.

Here is my experiment:

1. I  created a base cabinet ZONE, without sides, back, shelves ... just a blank or empty space / zone:

2. I inserted an existing drawer cabinet (original base cabinet size 780h x 600w x 560d) into these zones. The reason of doing this is to use the Cabinet 3D to drive all cabinet dimensions, this way gives me a bit flexibility to make it work parametrically. Also it speed up the design process.

3. Now, I tried to change the construction / materials from Interior Cad> Edit Construction. But, this is not working at this stage I think.

It will be very exciting to have a way to change the material / construction at the same time, after inserting the cabinet symbols in objects.

Thanks a lot extra group.

Hi,
this seems to be a new way. Never heard about to insert a cabinet into a cabinet. I didn't get the advantage of it.

But "Also it speed up the design process" triggered me a lot.????

I think the Cabinet 3D tool can be improved and incorporated with connectors, drawers, hinges etc... into it. So it makes changes on hardware easier.

Here are my explanation:

1. The Connector tool can be incorporated with Fixed / Movable shelves after the definition.

Connector1.thumb.JPG.7afd932167f477270bd413349413ac13.JPG

When fixed shelf is defined, the Grid sets, connectors such as screw, Cabineo or Rafix ... can be inserted here. Also have a global tick option to insert connectors to all three sides as well.

Similarly, when a movable shelf is defined, we can select the grid settings say 5x32mm for shelf holes on Left and Right.

With these settings, we can rely on the tool to delete or remove unwanted connectors, instead of removing manually which will accidently remove necessary connectors and drillings.

2. It will be very nice if the drawer tool can also be incorporated in the Cabinet 3D.

This way, we have the ability to choose different drawers, for example:

Top drawer Blum Movento, middle drawer Blum Legrabox, and the Bottom drawer Hettich Avantech YOU...

3. Hinge selection could also be incorporated in the Cabinet 3D when doors are defined, LH , RH, or Double Doors ...

Similar to Connectors and Drawer Tools, it will be nice to have hinge selection option like below.

I think the Tool Sets are very well designed and handy for custom made units, it will be very nice to enable the Cabinet 3D tool to fetch the Tool Sets database when designing cabinets.

4. Shape in Cabinet 3D tool.

It will be very nice to allow us to define User Defined Shapes from different views: Front / Right  / Top.

For example, if Top view is defined, we can draw a shape in Vectorworks and turn this shape to a Cabinet ZONE.

Instead of using Custom part to build the unit piece by piece, the Shape tool can help us to define the Cabinet Zone and then we can insert the parts such as back, sides partition and so on.

In short, it will be cool to have Interiorcad helping us to speed up the design process so to reduce the labour cost, then Interiorcad turns out to be a good investment for cabinet makers.

Thanks
