Hello team,

I would like to ask is it possible to refresh/update the material thickness in Interiorcad quickly?

What happen was I entered the incorrect board thickness (18.4mm) in the material master data a while ago, but the right thickness should be 18mm, not 18.4mm.

I used 18.4mm thickness to build approximately 27 cabinet models, so I want to know is there a quick way to refresh/update the old cabinet panel thickness to 18mm?

I know I can open each cabinet and change each panel thickness, but it' is very time consuming.

So is there a quick way to make this easier?

Thanks a lot.

I cannot see a problem there. Here's what you do:

  1. Enter the new thickness in the Master Data dialog.
  2. In the "Construction"-pane of the interiorcad cabinet edit dialog, re-enter the material (delete the last digit of the material name, then re-enter it).
  3. Repeat for all parts
  4. Save as a set
  5. Apply the set to all cabinets that you want to chance. You can use the menu command "Construction" under the interiorcad menu for that.

Hi Stephan,

Thanks a lot for your quick reply.

I was looking for an idea (or a way) for updating/refreshing the old cabinet library (cabinets saved in library preset) panel thickness without opening and editing each of them.

It would be good if there is a way to refresh the whole old library cabinets when panel thickness is changed.

I did try the command "construction" under the top interiorcad menu, and it's working. However, when I start a new job and use the old cabinet library in "custom defaults", the old cabinet panel thickness still 18.4mm (wrong size), not 18mm (new size).

I was wondering if there is a quick way to update or refresh the old cabinets panel thickness without editing them and save them.

Also, is there a quick way to save the modified cabinet?

For example, I made a cabinet "Birch Test" marked in A at first, and then I made a changed on it, and now want to update the old cabinet A without changing its name.

What I normally do is to save it as "Birch test 02", then delete the "birch test", and then name the "brich test 02" back to "birch test". I am not sure if I am doing the right way to update the existing cabinet in the library? Please do show me a quick way to update the existing cabinet if you have one.

Many thanks again.

Ah, gotcha. Good point. I don't think we have a way to do this without overwriting each cabinet in the library individually. But I will make a note to add this when we revise the way that materials are handled. No promise as to when this will happen, except that it will.

Hi Stephan,

That sounds good. Hopefully the overwriting function can be improved soon. I understand that it involves lots of work to inspect programme coding etc., especially for handling Apple OS and Windows platforms.

I posted a question last month regards to the drawer runner/holes misplacement in Vectorworks.net. I have done some experiments since then, and figured out what was happening on my Windows version Interiorcad. Please see below experiments:

First, I created a new file "untitled 1".

Second, I opened the cabinet A (same as B) in the symbol preset from "Master Library", please notice that the "master library" is the one I store my kitchen cabinet models.

Third (this is the problem coming from), I changed the cabinet size, in the red colour highlighted box, from 450mm to 600mm or 900mm, then drawer/drillings displacement happened in cabinet A.

Fourth, I edited the cabinet width either using "setting", "reshape tool" or right click mouse "edit", the cabinet B looks all good.

So, it looks to me that the red box A parameters might need to be revised or make it consistent to "settings" or "edit".

I am not sure if this only happens on my side, or someone has experienced this problem on the other platform.

Now, for avoiding these problems or potential issues, I normally duplicate the "master library" and the name is to customer file say "John Kitchen/Project", for making sure all cabinet settings are coming from the same root library/settings.

Thanks again.

Interesting. Can you send me the library file and, if it is not too much trouble, a short movie to help us reproduce the steps required to trigger the behaviour? Please use our ticketing system for this: https://en.extragroup.de/submit-ticket/

I will have a look what is happening.

Thanks for the detailed description!
